Our Music Stars
Ruth Hamilton was a world-renowned contralto singer who was a proponent of the Negro Spirituals. Ms. Hamilton handed away in 2001 and it was her need for a community-based youth program to be created to protect, educate and rejoice Black music and tradition. Elta Garrett, a well-known soprano, devoted greater than 50 years of her life as a music teacher within the Boston Public Schools. After retirement, Mrs. Garrett served as the founding director of the Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy. Individual & Group Classes / Private lessons students are invited to join group lessons for free. And studying, PLAYing piano and percussions, singing, speaking, composition, rhythm in movement and dance in addition to monthly performances.
